Factions of Soulbound

The world that the Elder Races inhabit alongside humans, is full of struggle and intrigue where different factions vye for power and their own unknown agendas. While Europe is mainly the Elven domain, they generally don't interact with other Elder Races and humans but instead prefer to remain in the pockets of the Other Lands that they rule. However, the other Elder Races have the cells of their powerbase dotted all around Europe as well.

1. The Wyr. The Wyr of Europe are a smaller group than the main force in Northern America but they are well-organized, having a security force, spy network, a well-established diplomatic corps and more. They are powerful enough to not be trifled with but always tested as the dragon is far away and the Wyr is often seen as the undeserved newcomers to the game for influence in Europe, forgetting that the dragon is older than anything of this Earth. The European Wyr is an orderly and close-knit organization that makes sure the Wyr interests in Western and Southern Europe are seen to. Their headquarters is on the border of England and Scotland, away from the city, in a compound named the Grey Castle. This is the main player character faction on Soulbound. Long lifespan to immortal lifespan.

2. Human society. Your average person living their everyday life. Normal lifespan. Open faction on Soulbound for players.

3. The Dark Fae. Their main area of power is Ireland, where the gates to the Other Land, can be found. The Unseelie Court of the Dark Fae is located there, always at odds with the European Light Fae Court that also inhabited these lands. Focusing mainly on their greatest nemesis, the Dark Fae Court of Europe do not move among the human society much but there are some independent Dark Fae living in the human society that can be associated with the other factions. The Soulbound Dark Fae faction will be open but restricted to a certain number of active characters. Long lifespan(up to two thousand years).

4. The Light Fae. Living in Ireland, the Light Fae Court of Europe is a closed society of light fae with possible members of the race possibly living among the rest of the humankind. The faction is open but restricted to non-allied light fae. Long lifespan(up to two thousand years).

5. Vampyres of Europe are many and their branches spread all over the continent. As a faction of formerly humans, it is rumoured that a vampyre can collect power and strength for thousands of years but eventually their mental capacity deteriorates, making them unstable and causing the rest of the vampyres to hunt them down and destroy them. "Lifespan" of sane existence is up to four thousand years. Open faction.

6. Djinn in the Elder Races universe do not need a particular location to exist so there is no specific European part of the Djinn faction. They exist everywhere and can go anywhere in moments, up to striking deals anywhere. Technically eternal creatures that can be destroyed but it would require a lot of collective Power. Closed faction.

7. Elves are most powerful and oldest of races and strongest in Europe but since they have little contact with the rest of the Elder Races and humans in the area, they don't come out of the Other Lands. The faction is closed for the time being.

The Wyr Hierarchy on Soulbound

Although ultimately ruled by the Dragon located in the US, the European Wyr faction enjoys a relative autonomy as long as their general goals line up with those set by the Lord of the Wyr. They are fewer in the organized group, still finding factionless Wyr every now and then, from the hidden places in Europe, but they are a tightly-knit family. Regardless of their type, the Wyr are judged by their skillsets that can be useful to the organization. Thus, a short-lived housecat Wyr can climb the ranks to become the Director of Communications and Marketing just as well as any ancient Wyr could, if they have the required skills for the job.

The European Wyr are lead by Commander Alexander Arild, an immortal Wyr Wyvern who's been in this position for over two centuries by this point. His immediate circle of assistants, officers and advisers is small to avoid any leaks, betrayals and bureaucracy.

The Wyr hierarchy is loosely divided into three groups:

1) The military wing is lead by the second in command to the Commander of the Wyr in Europe. It is the most numerous as per the nature of the Wyr, driven by their need to protect, preserve and support the Wyr way of life from anything and anyone that would seek to harm it. The military in turn consists of smaller divisions dedicated to security, intelligence and support(medicine, science, etc). They all answer to the General as he is called. Currently the position is held by (NPC)Travis Kyle, a Wyr Grizzly while the separate divisions have their own respective heads.
2) Communications and Marketing wing is not only directed outward from the Wyr to the rest of the world but also makes sure that information goes where it needs to within the organization. This is also where the diplomats work to keep relations with the other factions smooth and at the very least, civil. Nobody wants a conflict when it comes to the Elder Races. This wing is lead by the PR-director who until very recently was Alannah Mueller, a housecat Wyr, who had expertly avoided any bigger problems and provided the human society around them a soothing presence in press conferences and inquiries. Now that she is leaving Europe for South-America, the position is open for a new candidate...
3) The Civilian Wing. Responsible for anything from mowing the lawn to managing the many businesses that the Wyr owns, the Civilian wing is almost as big as the military but most certainly less aggressive. This is where most of the non-Wyr affiliates of the organization are working - humans, errant fae of both kinds, a couple of exiled elves... the list goes on. The interests of Wyr are many and they all need to be maintained. The civilian wing is mostly managed by the housekeeper of the Grey Castle but the position is fluid in its location and leader, always depending on the attitude and reach of the skills of the person holding it. Currently it is held by (NPC)Mara Wilson who's threatened retirement for decades now. Whether or not she actually means it, remains to be seen.

The Wyr faction on Soulbound is open, some of the named NPCs are adoptable characters and some of the positions easily replaceable so if you have an idea for a certain spot within the hierarchy, feel free to either post it in your character sheet, plots, wanted&desired forum or come to the staff directly via PMs.

The human society on Soulbound

Humankind is the most numerous race in this world. Arguably also the most influential, they are lead by their elected and inherited leaders(Presidents, Ministers, Monarchs, etc) and have many groups within their society. Their military, scientific society, political and civil powers are the greatest in the world and they are the main focus of the politics of the Elder Races whether they like it or not. Having gone through the phases of chasing down and eradicating all that was not them, the humans have proven more than once that they are indeed a strong faction if simply by winning the war of attrition. Therefore it is imperative they be kept happy, their policies, diplomacy and agreements closely followed by the less numerous Elder Races.

Within the human society there are several groups that are well-versed in using Power - Witches and Sorcerers can grow to be incredibly powerful and threaten even the most dangerous of the Elder Races. Usually working in groups(Covens), these people advance their goals and agendas within the human world as well as among the Elder Races, despite being looked at as the underdogs by the others using Power.

Humans are an open faction lead by politicians of each country although their various international organizations often supersede the power of the individual countries. If you have an idea for a group(with or without Power) for this faction, please feel free to contact the staff with it but always keep in mind that the aim of the game is to have everyone interact with each other via plots and storylines that cross the various factions and races.
